Facebook gives one-time password feature

The next time you are using a public computer to access your Facebook account, you have an option to login through a temporary password instead of your regular password.

The new feature, aimed to strengthen online security, will let users access their account through a one-time password that will expire in 20 minutes.

All a user will have to do is text "otp" to 32665 on their mobile phone and they will receive a password immediately. However, in order to access this feature, users will need a mobile phone number in their account.

Facebook's Jake Brill wrote in a blog post, "If you have any concerns about security of the computer you're using while accessing Facebook, we can text you a one-time password to use instead of your regular password." He also wrote, "We're rolling this out gradually, and it should be available to everyone in the coming weeks."

The world's No. 1 social networking site has also made available a remote logout feature that will let users log out of their accounts remotely from another computer. To do this, go to "account settings" on your Facebook page and click on "change" next to "account security." There, you'll see where else your Facebook account is logged in, including the type of device and the city it's in or near. To log out of any of them, click "end activity."

In the past few months, Facebook has come under fire for its inadequate privacy control features. Last week, the social networking site unveiled tools to give users more control over personal information and let them set up cliques of friends.
